The accommodation consists of 5 separate standing dorm blocks (sleeping up to 80 in total), 2 sets of ablutions across the field, 5 dorms (sleeping 40 in total) down by the main building with ablutions and a further 24 in temporary wooden cabins. There are two chalets which accommodate 10 people and were built primarily for school staff or guest speakers who come to lead activities or sessions. Also 3 Leaders’ rooms, of which two are on-suite.
You need to bring your own top bedding and towels (Bottom sheet and pillow with pillow case provided). There are quality ablutions; a large dining room/conference hall with smaller alcoves allowing for ample meeting space for 200 people; a modern industrial kitchen which is fully equipped, and food standards are high. (Em’seni does not allow groups to self-cater, but instead, its staff will try to meet your requirements).

In addition to the above facilities, the spectacular Tugela River frontage offers many water activities including a “bum slide”, kayaking, a beautiful river walk, and access to the nearby Spioenkop Dam and Game Reserve. Em’seni is also a birders paradise. The historical Spioenkop mountain towers nearby offering a glimpse into the Anglo-Boer war.
